Employment of foreign citizens in Romania
Our consultants offer support services to all legal entities that desire to obtain the legal right to work/live in Romania for their future/current employees. The procedure differs depending on the area the person comes from, respectively EU/EEA or NON-EU.
For persons from EU/EEA area
The residency registration is required for the persons who desire to stay in Romania for a longer period of time. The registration for them and also for their family members is required depending on the purpose, namely:
For workers
In case of registration for employment purposes, seconded workers, trading activities, economic or professional activities, voluntary activities, humanitarian or religious activities.
Residence based on means of support
The procedure is quite facile and the residency is obtained in the same in which all the required documents are submitted within the authorities.
For family members
In this case, the family member are obliged to submit also the civil status document certifying the marriage or, as applicable, documents certifying the family relationship with the resident.
For NON-EU citizens
Obtaining the visa
An individual may obtain a short stay visa, based on the purpose of the arrival in Romania: tourism, business, sport activities, cultural, scientific, humanitarian, activities. This type of visa will be required for the case in which the stay in Romania will not exceed 90 days during any period of 180 days preceding each day of stay. In case the visit exceeds this limit, then it is required a long stay visa.
The invitation
It is approved within 60 days since the submission of the necessary documents and it is required for the foreign citizens who will come in Romania for tourism, in organized groups of at least 20 people, at the request of Companies regulated by Law no. 31/1990, republished, with subsequent amendments, members of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania.
Stay permit
In order to obtain the stay permit, it is required the presence of the foreign person at the territorial units of the General Inspectorate for Immigration in the domicile county, with at least 30 days before the expiry date of the visa, along with a number of documents.
Obtaining permanent residency
In case you have a continuous and legal stay on the territory of Romania exceeding 5 years, you may qualify for obtaining the permanent residence.
